Empowerment

"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, becasue anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men." Romans 14:17

What does it mean to be counter-cultural? Our speaker this past week, Phil Gazley, made a solid point on this topic: Be a counter-cultural person that is engaged in our culture.

Today I am starting what is know as the Daniel fast (Daniel 1:15). From now, until the end of the DTS lecture phase I will be eating nothing but fresh, raw veggies and water. Through fasting and prayer, our Lord gives knowledge and understanding of all kinds. By weakening our physical bodies, God can strengthen us in wisdom and revelation. My heart is to seek the Holy Spirits guidance not only for the rest of the DTS here in Las Vegas but also for my decisons after.

My heart is continually growing for this city, specifically the art district which I have been spending a lot of time in trying to establish contacts to get involved with the community. There is so much potential for Jesus to awaken this community and I want to partner with Him in any way while I am here. The Lord is jealous for them, His passion is unrelenting and it's time for the people of Las Vegas to know a true, real, loving God.

Prayer Requests:

1. Please please please pray the art district community, they are all so spiritually hungry. Right now Im working to partner with the owners of art galleries, antique/thrift stores and a natural hair care salon. There is huge potential to reach out to the youth through these places. There is also a local theatre that we want to get in contact with to show a film about human sex trafficking. check it out for yourself too! http://www.sexandmoneyfilm.com/

2. Pray for my fast, that I will be obedient in it and for encouragment. Im not sure how long it will last but I'm thinking about the rest of the DTS (8 weeks). We'll see how the Lord leads.

3. Pray and consider supporting me not only in prayer but in finances as well. My work here is completely volunteer and I am relying on God for my rent, food and outreach expenses during this time. If the Lord leads you to give or tell people about what I'm doing, please do so.

I would love to talk more about what the Lord is doing vis email, so feel free to send me a message. (marissag.marie@gmail.com)

Obedience is Surrender

"... and you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years..." Deuteronomy 30:20

The beauty in this life is not what we make of our own life, but what we let God make of our life. We surrender, we relinquish, we let God give us the desires of His heart. When we desire Gods heart we are transformed into his likeness, we become obedient to his love and allow him to literally be our life.

It has been exactly one month since I moved to Las Vegas, the last place I thought I could ever be a part of ministry in. One month of laughing, crying, repenting, healing and restoration. There are very few words or statements that can encompass all that has happened but, Gods grace and joy have sustained me through it all.

As most of you may or may not know, I am living on base with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) as a staff member for the DTS (Discipleship Training School) going on.  Our focus is on exposing the human trafficking crisis that is destroying peoples lives not only in distant nations but in our own backyards. During the next months we will be taking active steps to abolish human trafficking in whatever way we can here in Las Vegas. We are taking steps of complete obedience and walking into the heart of the problem, establishing ground for God to reclaim lives that he longs to love.

By mid November we will be taking everything we have learned and lived here to 2 different nations. One team will be going to Thailand and the other to India/Nepal, I will be joining the team to India. We are hoping to work with families in Nepal who sell their daughters in to prostitution as a means of financial support. The girls who are victims of this usually end up in the red light ditricts of Mumbai and Delhi.

My main objective is to establish a prayer community to partner with me and the ministry I am a part of. I will be posting testimonies, teachings, my personal prayer journey and also prayer requests.

Prayer Requests

Finances: To live on base there is a $200 rent fee and also $100 for food every month. For outreach I need $1700 by October 1 to secure my flight, all together the trip to India/Nepal will be $3000-$3200. (This is a 2 month long outreach and this amount will cover all expenses)

Please prayerfully consider supporting me financially during this time, I fully rely on God as my financial provider through His followers and those who seek His counsel.

I would also appreciate prayers of endurance and refreshment. I have been struggling to find my alone times with Jesus to sustain myself during the week.

Blessing and Peace,

Marissa
